On May 17, 2019, Bapak Drs. Karyanto Suprih, M.M., Secretary General at the Ministry of Trade and Mr. Martin Hansen, GIZ Country Director Indonesia, ASEAN & Timor-Leste signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a risk management scheme. On behalf of the Alliance for Trade Facilitation, GIZ is delighted to accompany the Ministry of Trade in improving the licensing process and post-border controls in selected sectors to bring down the time and cost of trade procedures.
The Ministry of Trade stressed the importance of the project for Indonesia to fulfill its commitments under the World Trade Organization, and to contribute to the national objective of putting in place the Indonesia Single Risk Management (ISRM).
Both partners emphasized that sharing experiences and expertise within Indonesia and globally is at the core of the project. A preceding workshop trained Ministry of Trade staff from different directorates how to assess risks, following international standards. Indonesian Customs presented their approach of distinguishing between good and bad traders.
